Bushfire at Wat Buddha Dhamma

Dear Friends,

The recent bushfire at Dharug National Park has gone through Ten Mile Hollow. Fortunately, the community of monks and lay people have evacuated before the fire encroached upon the monastery. We have moved to another location until it is safe to return to the Wat. At this stage, it is uncertain the impact of the fire on the Wat property. From the news clip we saw, the Thera Kuti, where Ajahn Tiradhammo resides, was consumed by the fire. (click here: Fire around Sala and Thera Kuti) Otherwise, we do not have any definite details regarding other structures. The fire is still active and Wisemans Ferry Rd is closed in both directions.

The monks will be briefed by the Rural Fire Service later today (Thurs) and we will update the details on the website.

We would like to express our appreciation for the outpour of support and concerns from many people over the past few days.
